In 1984, Martin Mathews from Indiana crafted a few “antique looking” rug beaters from Victorian fence wire that his brother Michael had salvaged from a site where several old houses were being torn down. Upon displaying the reproduction rug beaters at a flea market, they sold very quickly. That is how Mathews Wire was born.

Ideas for other wire products began to fill their thoughts. So in 1985, they published a 4” x 5” black & white catalog containing approximately two dozen items. They began to find ways to increase production and decrease material costs, enabling them to reduce the wholesale price of their products. They started to guarantee every item would sell or your money back. So customers could buy their products with no risk of receiving merchandise that did not turn around quickly.

Today, Mathews Wire still guarantees every item to sell or your money back. Mathews Wire manufactures and distributes over 750 products, employs about 100 people, and has representatives throughout the United States, Canada, and Overseas.

Though their product line has gone through many changes, their goal remains the same, supply fast selling, quality merchandise at a reasonable price, and deliver it on time.

Mathews Wire is internationally known for giftware made of wire, unique candle holders, and antique reproductions. They are regarded as the original...the leader in the wire giftware and reproduction industry.
